CompTIA Certification Article

March 28, 2006 -- The Computer Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) released the RFID+ certification exam today. The CompTIA RFID+ is a professional certification of skills in radio frequency identification (RFID) that addresses the needs of RFID hardware and software manufacturers, value added resellers, training developers, and end users of RFID technology.

In a recent survey, 75% of global companies planning on using RFID believe there is a shortage of talent in RFID. Half of the companies plan on implementing RFID in the next twelve months but 80% feel the shortage in talent will affect their plans.

The RFID+ certification addresses this shortage in talent by utilizing the expertise of the top RFID companies in designing the exam. RFID subject matter experts identified the skills required for successful RFID implementations. Among the skills tested by the certification are installation, configuration, and maintenance of RFID hardware and software; site surveys and site analysis; and tag selection, placement, and testing. The certification is designed for professionals with six to twenty-four months of RFID experience.

The exam for the RFID+ certification is available now from any authorized CompTIA testing center.
